About the Hellenic Canadian Congress of Ontario
ADVOCATING FOR ONTARIO HELLENES AND HELLENISM
Who We Are…
The Hellenic Canadian Congress of Ontario (HCCO) – formerly the Hellenic Canadian Federation of Ontario) – was established in 1982 and it is incorporated (July 18, 1983) as a non-for-profit corporation under Ontario law.
The HCCO is the founding provincial organization and the first division of the Canadian Hellenic Congress (CHC) with jurisdiction and primary responsibility for the Ontario region.
The HCCO is the central Hellenic communal institution and serves as a link between individuals, communities, associations and societies and governments, including non-governmental bodies.
The HCCO is a grass roots, province wide, independent, non-partisan, secular, and democratic institution of Ontario Hellenes dedicated to the advancement and promotion of Hellenism through dialogue, education, advocacy, and service.
The HCCO core aims are to advance and promote Hellenism, Democracy, Human Rights, Equality, and social change and engagement in public affairs.
The goal is to change society through the revitalization and advancement Hellenism both in Canada and in the world. And to vigorously defend Hellenes and Hellenism here and abroad. Our goal is to change society through the revitalization and advancement Hellenism both in Ontario, Canada and in the world.
What We Do…
We represent, advocate, and promote the interests and concerns Hellenic Canadian organizations, and individuals at the municipal and provincial governments and through the CHC at the federal level of government.
We work to advance democracy, human rights, civic responsibility, human dignity, cultural diversity, and economic justice for all Ontarians and Canadians in general.
We are dedicated to working for and on behalf of Canadian Hellenes across Ontario and Canada and advocate for the highest standards of citizenship and professional excellence, democratic ethos, human rights, and civil responsibility.
We promote awareness and understanding of the legacy of the Hellenic Civilization – philosophy, culture, history, beliefs, and language.
We foster and promote closer economic, commercial, education, and cultural ties between the peoples and governments of Hellos and the Province of Ontario.
We believe that in unity there is strength and through strength we can make changes for the betterment of all peoples.
We organize and sponsor conferences, events, and public debates – on our own and in conjunction with the CHC and other entities – on matters relating to Hellenism, public policy, and national Hellenic issues, that aim to increase the knowledge, awareness, and salience of policy issues with relevant stakeholders and interested public.
